On my list is a sniper/varmint type .308. The cops and military seem to use Rems alot. Obviously either brand would shoot better than me. Any pros or cons to share? Thanks for entertaining my hypothetical. :D

The remington 700 police edition with heavy barrel profile is what I have in 300 RUM (they make the same rifle in .308 and is considered the most accurate .308 rifle in the market today)...

I like browning more than remington, but when it comes to those remington 700 police rifles, NOTHING beats them (just my opinion)....

Just remember, this is coming from a guy that actually owns one (but not in the specific caliber you want)...

Now if your talkin about a-bolt browning vs remington 700 (not the police edition) then of course, a-bolt would win with ease.....

The action on the A-Bolt is smooth as butter. Not sure about the Police Remmy, but all other Remmy's I've played with were not as smooth.

The A-Bolt Medallion series are downright slick.

Brownings are nice out of the box.  Remingtons are fun for customizing around.

The only thing I have done to my Browning Abolt s/s in 308 is mount a scope.  It does this routinely:



3 shot group 100yds

Hi
   Look at the after market products for them. Stocks, Triggers, and like that... Look at match results, see whats winning.  Look what others are shooting in that discipline (silhouette, 1000 yd.) that you want to do.

i have two centerfire rifles in my safe. a Browning A-Bolt in .243 and a Remington 700 BDL in .223.

both shoot under a half inch and both are pretty enough to hang on the wall.

I could not be happier with them.

here is another one for your list.... Ruger all-weather Mk-ii in .308 (stainless steel).... man this gun is a SWEET shooter....

Im buying one in 7mm mag, its got a smooth bolt, near perfect accuracy, and handles well in any weather condition....

you should look hard into those rugers,

As I do love both, I would say the action on the a bolt is better.  Police use the remmy becuase its is much cheaper in price!

You and Lawdog(RIP), bashing the rems :lol: ...  I dont get it, but I guess my question to you is, if you had to choose between a model 700 Rem, Savage which would be your choice??  Just curious? :D

To answer your question, the Remington. But I did not bash the Remington, I just don't like them or buy them. I think there are better guns that suite me better. Like Tikka, Browning, Sako and CZ.  I am also not a Winchester fan. But I am not bashing them either, just don't like them or use them. It is called personal preference.  :D

I do own one Remington rifle, it is a model 60 .22 pump. My son has 2 Remington 870 pump shotguns also.  :D
