the trigger pull on my dads remington 700 bdl is HEAVY..it's stock right now...but when shooting my savage 114 with accutrigger and then shooting his...it ruins groups big time with his because of the heavy trigger pull...how is this lightened up without replacing it with an aftermarket?

Remington triggers can easily be safely lightened but I recommend you take it to a gunsmith.

I put a Jard trigger kit into mine and am pleased with it. I chose their heaviest kit and it seems just right to me for a hunting rifle. Total cost was around $60.00 It uses the factory trigger housing. Took awhile to get all together.

Unless Remington changed, the trigger is adjustable. Only have one centerfire Reington rifle, a 1975 .308 Win. A half-turn on the screw did it.

A little reminder is in order.. The reminton trigger is adjustable but the sear engagement adjustment should NOT be moved. Over travel and pull weight are OK but the sear engagement is best left to a professional. A mistake can be fatal... Be certain to lock the adjustments when you are thru. Failure to lock the screws can once again create dangerous situations... needlessly..

Its best to have a gunsmith adjust the pull on Rem rifles.

I followed this step by step instruction for my Remington 700 22-250 and it worked like a charm.

If you don't have a gunsmith nearby you can look out on ebay there is a gentlemen there that gives you instructions on how to remove the trigger you send it to him and within a week it comes back perfect.. I paid 35 dollars the last time and it is well worth it. I believe his user name is WYOmBBQ but its been 2 years. Unless you put in a Jewell trigger no aftermarket trigger , Timney,Shilen,Jard whatever is going to beat the regular Remington trigger in the hands of a good gunsmith.

The gentleman in Wyoming that does triggers is The Triggersmith , had my trigger done by him a couple months ago. Sent trigger on a Thursday and received it back the following Thur. Cost 35.00. As good or better than timney.

As others have mentioned, the Remington trigger is easy to adjust. There are directions on the internet, but they are mainly just adjusting the screws. This works most of the time, but the last 2 new Remmies I bought needed some polishing of engagement surfaces to get a nice crisp break. I recommend taking it to a gunsmith if you haven't fooled with one before. The typical going rate is in the $50 range from what I can tell and it's worth the money.
