Bought another Stevens 200 .243
« on: February 24, 2006, 07:25:30 AM »
I sold the one I bought Last June, thought I might try again. In retro spect I believe the base and scope was the problem. This will be my beater truck gun. I don't think a .243 is a very good deer rifle but sometimes you have to use what you got with you. I did kill a very heavy (190 dressed) buck with the other .243  using an 85 grn sierra gameking bthp. . It was the only rifle handy and I didn't want to pass on him. He ran farther than I tought 90 yds which I wasn't expecting as I had shot many antelope an mule deer with the same load bang, flop.
Now I got some .95 grn Nosler ballistic tips to try. I know nothing about this bullet ! So any imput would be appreciated.
