Remington has introduced it's own controlled feed M-98 Mauser.

These are the Serbian made barreled actions that Charles Daly were importing last year. Remington is stocking them. Same action (though made in a different country) as the Interarms Mark X.

Remington will be charging more, so get you Charles Dalys while they still have some in stock.

Ya know, I thought the same thing....get one now....but after looking at the Remington pics and the specs, I'm thinking I'll wait. If Remington runs the price up a little, I'd be miles happier with either the laminated stock or a better synthetic one. The Daly imports are pretty rough. Looks like possibly the Remingtons may be ordered to a higher standard of finish......who knows. Just wondering.

The MSRP on the 798 is $150 less then the 700 and you can get a 700 BDL from 548-579 So i would think these rifles will have a nice price tag but how is the quality on this M98 rifle? Does anyone have any experience with them?

I don't own one, but my friend I mentioned in coyote trappers post is an ffl dealer who has a few. I've handled them, but not shot them. They are rather rough in fit, finish, and overall appearance......then again, they aren't the deluxe models either. They shoot "ok" apparently. The field grades which I looked at don't appear as nice as their predecessor, the Interarms Mark X models.

I spoke with remington yesterday and the 798 should be available around mid summer . I had called about the weight of the 458 as there website had all gun weights from 243 to 458 at 7 lbs. They said they were discussing the weights that were posted on there website and were looking into it. Later Tanoose

Years ago I had a Mark X in 2506 and a Parker Hale in 7 mag and ended up swaping them out in some trades the 2506 was a real shooter and I still kick my self over that one. It now looks like it may be time to replace it. I'm just thinking if they'll put a 24 inch barrel on the 2506? It needs it.
