I bought a S&W Sigma in 40 S&W. It's my first semi and I bought it for home defense. I took it to the range and was disgusted with it's lack of accuracy. I have a few ruger wheel guns and they are much more accurate. Regardless of the diferent ammo they are fairly close in accuracy. The sigma is all over the place. Can anyone make any reccomendations to what works well in their piece. It's an older one (gray frame), I bought it used never fired 2 years ago and hardly shoot it because of its' lack of accuracy. Your feed back is appreciated.

I find just the opposite, but mine is a 9mm. It shoots like a dream, I feel very confident with the Sigma.

I got rid of a Ruger 9 MM a few years ago because of the same thing. It sprayed bullets, patterns not groups. I had a buddy with an identical gun that shot pretty well. I have an S&W 4506 now that shoots better than I can. So it isn't the brand, and my kid has a 40S&W Glock that is a good shooter, so it isn't the calaber. I don't know anything about the model, so can't help you much. Sorry.

I own a 9mm VE. It keeps right up there with my CZs, Rugers, and Walther as far as accuracy goes. The trigger does take some getting used to.

Sorry for the late addition to this subject. Just stumbled upon this forum a few days ago and have spent much time just reading the many interesting posts. This is my 2nd post, so bear with me please.

I bought a SW9VE several months ago & have put several hundred various rounds through it. No FTF or FTE's. Regarding accuracy, I find mine to be as accurate as I am. The trigger pull is it's biggest draw back. I've heard it's somewhere from 8 to 12 lbs? Not sure, but I do know it's way to hard & long ( that doesn't sound right :? ) for me. A hard trigger pull can effect accuracy. That's why competition shooters adjust their trigger pull down to being measured in the onces. We have a 9mm Desert Eagle with a 4 lb trigger pull that is just about perfect for me.

That said, the Sigma doesn't have a safety ( unless you think a trigger safety is a safety) so the harder trigger pull is a safety factor. I sometimes use my Sigma as a carry weapon because of it's dependability, so far.

I have become a fan of the plastic guns and will be buying a S & W MP40 soon.

pretty much took the words out of my mouth. i really liked mine. i found a good deal on another gun and traded it off but i never once got a malfunction from mine and i really liked it, except for the trigger pull.

why can't they make it like glock's trigger? same style and design, in general. why did they have to put that awful trigger in it?? you almost have to use your foot, like cocking a crossbow lol.

Another vote for its accurate. At first, I thought it was inaccurate, but after getting used to the trigger pull, which is tough, we've all seen it, and they way it moves in my hand, cause it is different than most other pistols I own, it actually shoots fairly accurate. Mine is in .40SW, and I usually shoot 180grn FMJ's out of it.
