It says 1000 on my screen. Your right on the money Graybeard. Another ploy to market firearms. Had they done everything the same and put a 3x9 scope on it and guarenteed minute of angle at 100 yds, they'd never intrest those that like to hunt(?) at extream ranges; excess of 300 yds.
I've been hunting for 45 yrs and have suffered magnum mania. What I found out is that deer shot at reasonable range, say up to 250 yds, with lead core bullets and exposed tips, and well placed shots go down quickly. Oh, that with standard cartridges. I've nothing against magnums, just don't like shooting them any more. Don't mind shooting at paper beyond 300 yds either, it's a hoot. But animals deserve better than iffy shooting.
