My daycare care provider approached me with an odd item he wanted to sell and I need a little help. It is a pine looking display case used in a old hardware store he used to own. It is approx, 18" wide and maybe 4-5 inches deep at the bottom and narrower at the top. A sorta slant lid affair. The front is wood framed with glass in it that lift up. There are several slots to hold 22 short long long rifle ammo for sale. The front says remington in red letters and mentions something to the effect of clean primeing, shoot more clean less. Not a direct quote. Both sides have some remington graphics on it. The store keeper side has a gum label with ammo statistics like fps, mid range trajectory ect. The handwritten price for 22 shorts was 43 cents per box, this should be a real good clue to the age. I old eneogh to remeber 43 cent shorts but I thuoght that might have been late 50s or early 60s. The gentleman is very nice and I did not wish to see him be taken advantage of by a gunshow wheeler dealer. He mentioned taking it to the next big show and trading for some wallet sized signed and numbered portraits of dead presidents. The overall condition is very good just dusty. I would appreciate any help as towards its age and maybe value if any of you would care to make a estimate. I can give out more info if needed such as true size and actual word for word translations on the graphics. I think the gent would even sell it to any one of you if he felt the offer was fair. I guessed it was wroth at least 50.00 and considered offering that, but he is a friend as well as great daycare folks and I did not want to rip him off or see him get ripped off. Please help me if you can.
