I know some of you guys own the kimber montana.  I have been putting off the urge for a long time.  I am having a hard time coughing up the money for one.  I am really interested in the accuracy.  If I purchase one I want a 270 WSM.  Who can tell me firsthand what kind of groups they have got?  Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the montana but I have a classic 270 wsm that shoots .75 at 100 yds. using 150 Winchester Power Points. It is well worth the money. I just bought a montana in the 7-08 Rem. I'm praying that it will do as well. I just have not had time to get to the range to check it but I plan to start with the Hornady 139 gr. Light Mag. They really work well in a mod. 7. I bought one Kimber and had to buy another . I have my eye on one in the new 25-06 but the long actions will not be available until July 2006, so my gun dealer tells me.

Are you saying that the longactions are out in the montana model? In the long actions are they offering it in 7mm rem mag?

I think the long actions will be offered in 25-06, 270, 30-06 and 300 win mag. I'm not certain about the 7mm mag.

I have never seen or even heard of a long action Kimber.  I am sure that it will be welcomed by many long action fans.  Personally, I would look into a .270 Winchester.  I have a Montana in .300WSM and, because of its lighter weight, has a pretty stout kick to it.  Still, it shoots 1MOA with 180 grain Nosler Partitions.  I would think that the Montana in .270 Winchester would be about perfect. Does anyone know if the long action non-magnum Kimbers come with 24" barrels?

I have a .243 Montana. It shoots several loads under 1 moa. I have it out last weekend shooting my favorite varmint load of 58 gr. v-max's and IMR4064. I got 4 3-shot groups at 200 yds that measured from .74 to .93". I'm real happy with that. I have a .300 WSM in the limited edition french walnut rifle that shoots 168 gr TSX's an 1 moa with H4831, and that is the only powder I have tried yet. I like my Kimbers.

I just bought a Montana in 7mm-08, and from all the internet searching for any kind of problems and I have seen a few, I think it will work well for me.

I would have bought one Saturday but they only had a 300 WSM in stock. I am looking for a 270 or 7 WSM :grin:

Kimber actions are definitely not "one action fits all". The first Kimber centerfires were based on the 308 action. Then the WSMs were manfactured to the magnum action. Now the long actions are made to the 30-06 action. Check Kimber 's website for additional information.
