223 twist
« on: February 01, 2006, 07:48:18 AM »
What is the twist in a 223 Whitetail Hunter?  I have looked on gun broker and gunsamerican for a used one in left handed.  I waited for t3 in left handed but I DON'T think they will make one.  I know browning has one but I Don't want one in 1-12 twist .At the shot show this year if tikka will not make a lh rifle.  I guess I will buy a savage in 223 it will be my first savage.  I don't like the trigger looks on the savage. Thank you

What's wrong with the 1:12?  Works for me just fine.  Just stay with 55 grain or less and it will shoot like a dream.

I got my M595 at Gander Mountain  They had to transfer it from another store.  A couple of weeks ago they showed 3 leftys left.

I have thought of that for along time now .  But I keep coming back to the 223.   I like the 223 because it's a military rounded.  Ammo is cheap I want for predator hunting.

Geeeezzzz....thems BIG predators where you live.  I've shot well over a 100 yotes with a .223.  The largest bullet I've ever shot is a 52 gr.  Mostly shoot 50's.  WDO

Whitedogone say something positive. heavier bullet are for windy day and very long shots. That why guy like the 243. 1-8 or 1-9 I can do the same in a 223.

OK, I love what you've done with your hair.

". heavier bullet are for windy day and very long shots. That why guy like the 243. 1-8 or 1-9 I can do the same in a 223."

True, But if you think your going to go out in MICH and shoot all these predators in high wind at 300+ yards you are mistaken.  WDO

There you go again not being positive.  There are plenty of places in michigan that are 400 yards plus.  I'am going out west to do some hunting  soon.   Are you alway reading peoples minds. It's kind of silly for you to get upset about what twist I WANT  in a rifle you makes me laugh. By the way I'am bald.

You mentioned the savage earlier and that you had doubts about the trigger.  Let me tell you, there is no finer trigger on the market in a factory rifle than the Savage accu-trigger.  Combine the accu-trigger with the standard 1:9 twist and the Savage is your gun.  It'll shoot rings around that Tikka all day long and twice on Sunday.
