Bad Coon

I went out to the deer lease to repair a feeder broken down by hogs. Got to the shack after dark Saturday, drank some beer and had to go outside to whiz. Since the stock tank is forty yards from the shack I took my 243 and a spotlight with me just in case some hogs were hitting the water. As soon as I got outside I could hear something digging around in the back of my truck. I shined the spotlight in the back and there was a huge coon tearing at the nylon 40 pound bags of corn I had brought to fill the feeder with. I guess he noticed the million candlepower spotlight on him and he jumped out and ran a ways then hid behind a bush that I could see thru. Well I let him have it with the 243. The 80 grain PSP did a number on him. My trip up before deer season I had 300 pounds of corn in paper sacks torn open in the back of my truck parked in the same place. Made for a real pain to get the corn into the feeder. Revenge!

:D Those raccoons can be hard to kill. I set a couple of snares a few years back and found one shredded by a raccoon. But it, sounds as if you found the right caliber for that raccoon...Get em!.....

Had to help a friend out recently. He had six of them in his older high roof barn that had plenty of hiding places. He said that they were eating 35lbs of hog food a week. :) Not Funny was his answer :-D
Took me four diff times two nights in a row and all six were euthanized with my .22 WMR

Getting the coons to get in the truck is easy........the hard part is to get the deer into the truck so you can shoot them!

I am getting pretty fond of the Remington PSP 80 grain bullet. Seems to open very quickly yet holds together well on deer and large varmints.

Me thinks you are having too much fun eradicating my little goggle eyed friends. Boy they can be a pain in the rear . If they are looking for a home or some thing to eat you can't hardly keep them out. Keep up the good work :D  ............Joe............
