The Modle 29 is back!!

I just got my copy of American Handgunner and read John Taffin's article on the re-issue of the carbon steel, blued Modle 29.  Boy, the temptation to get the feever is really strong!!  I guess I'd better order it right away before Clint Eastwood uses it in a movie and the price goes thru the ceiling!

Y'know....I got one a few years ago.  A traditional 6" blued 29.  My dealer said it was one of the last ones made.  Of all the guns I own, for some reason, I just can't do the customizing thing on this one.  What a classic!

Yeah Doug, don't touch that baby!!  One of your grandkids will sell it for a tidy sum and send one of your great grandkids to college with the take!! :grin:

This is a limited run of 3000. According to Davidsons they all have been allocated. :(

I bought a nice clean M 29 about two months ago, recessed, pinned, in about 95% or better.
I gave 400 fer it and thought I might have paid a bit too much.
Thoughts????

When I pass and my kids get my guns, they will all be used and customized they way I want them to be.  Sell them fore there kids collage, they better not.  :eek:  :shock:

Hands down the most accurate revolver I have ever shot was a Model 29E in .44 Mag with a 4" barrel. Using either HS7 or H110, it was a legitimte 1" group at 25 yards. And that's coming from a crappy shooter!

I'm buying a 29 off a friend of mine for $300.It has an 8 3/8's on it.A little longer barrel than I like,but in mint condition I can't pass it up.Can't wait to shoot it.

I have an original 29-2 coming down to me, and let me tell you, when I do the same to my kids, they better not sell it!  I'll come up from the grave and smack the heck out of them!!!!

:roll: I guess I was bitten bad by the "Dirty Harry Bug,"  I have six model 29s in the safe.  I have two 4 screw models made in 1959; one 3 screw  with the S prefix in the S/N; one (1991) 8 3/8 with factory scope mounts and combat grips, and one (1991) 4 inch recessed and pinned barrel, and a NIB model 29 classic 8 1/8 inch barrel.  I also have three Ruger Super Blackhawks.  I haven't fired any of them many years.  My pistol hunting today is done with a model 57 (.41) or with one of the many Thompson's.

Oh well, they are good insurance for my retirement...... :wink:
