Any ideas on .223

I'm not very familiar with rifles :? . What .223 model/brand would you recomend between about $200 - $350,probably either bolt action or semi-auto.

You can pretty much rule out a decent semi for that price range but as dancoman suggested, the Stevens or Savage would be an excellent bet.

I picked up a used model 788 Rem. in .223 (w/ cheap scope) a few months ago for $300.  After shooting clover leaf groups, I wouldn't take twice that.  I previously owned another 788 -.223 but it had a rough barrel and shot about 1.5 inches. I sold it for $300.  My 700 BDL that I paid about $500 new will shoot about .75"-- after I bedded the action and floated the barrel.   Used guns are the best buy but you never know if you are buying a tack driver or a scatter gun.  Nowdays you run the same risk with many of the new guns.  Best of luck on your endeavor.
