I may be wrong, but it seems that I saw where Remington has a new trigger for their centerfire rifles. Something about the safety and it will adjust down to about 2 lbs. Am I imaginging this or can someone give me more info.

Yes, they have come out with a new trigger. Check out the Feb. 2006 issue of Predator Xtreme magazine. They have a write up about it.

Are you sure it's a "new" trigger? Or are you talking about the 40X trigger now in use on the XR-100 rifles? It's not technically new just used in a new application. It's great on my XRs.

Sounds like the 40 X trigger to me I installed one my 700 VS in 22-250 , made a big differance

I believe Remington is indeed coming coming out with an entirely new fire control system on the model 7s and 700s.

It is a brand new trigger design...Remington is now blocking the sear as well as the trigger unlike the older design. This is supposed to prevent the old issue of the gun going off when someone took their safety off. Read the article....It's not the 40X trigger.

Not arguing but I've searched their website and their 2006 catalog and find no reference to any trigger changes. Where is the information coming from? Where can it be read online?

I have talked to Remington and all they gave me is the old "can neither confirm nor deny" routine until after the Shot Show Feb 09.

I too have not been able to find anything on Remington's site anywhere. However, I have read the article from beginning to end and it is a new trigger. The author of the column mentioned that Remington let him use it on a recent varmint hunt and was asked not to talk about it until now. The article can be found in the February 2006 issue of Predator Xtreme (http://www.predatorxtreme.com/).

I'll take your word for it but that link got me no closer. I clicked every thing clickable on the page and found nothing. For now I'm gonna take the position it's a false rumor.

I understand. However, it's not false and the article is not on their site. It was in a hardcopy of their 2/06 edition. The article even had pictures of the new trigger showing the new sear engagement and the whole 9 yards. The new trigger promised more corrosion resistance, slicker and several other features. Matter of fact, this was the article that prompted me to spend the $13 to subscribe to a magazine I seldom hear of. I'm sure you'll hear the gospel after the SHOT Show. Then, you won't be a nay-sayer. ;-)
