(B-K: Sorry it took so long for a further response; I've been trying to post this for
days).
Getting back to your original question … “Where on the web?”
First, a question: When you say youÂ’re planning to "build" a .22, do you mean
you build it, as in do-it-yourself, or do you mean
have it built? There are a few semi-custom builders who do Low Walls (I think); and itÂ’s possible you may be able to get a bare action from them. Look at Meacham (
www.meachamrifles.com), and Ballard (
www.ballardrifles.com). Their completed rifles are beauties, but big-bucks.
As I suggested before, look on
www.GunsAmerica.com; use their “search” function, with “Lo Wall” (or “Low Wall”) as your “Key Words”. And, if you’re possibly interested in using a Stevens action as a starter, look for those too (there’s lots of them and they’re relatively cheap).
Try posting your question under the “Single Shot Rifles” forum, elsewhere here on Greybeard’s. There’s a lot of knowledgeable contributors: they may be able to direct you. Also, there are some serious collectors (like Marlinman, the forum Moderator), and one of them may actually have what you’re looking for.
If youÂ’re in for the long haul (i.e., not in a hurry), you might join the American Single Shot Rifle Association (
www.ASSRA.com) and develop contacts there or use their classified ads.
Hope this helps more.
