What bullets did you use?  How far were the deer?  How far did they run (if at all?)

Congrats.

I use a 175 gr. Sierra spitzer boattail with 59.5 grains of imr 4350. My dad got lucky his was only 765 yards away. My brothers was about 200 and mine was about 350. They all fell in their tracks. Bothe mine and my brothers were finished when we got to them and my dads required some assistance from a glock .40.

Great deer! You picked the right caliber for the job.......many years ago, while I was stationed in El Paso TX, I bought a Winchester model 70 in 7mm Remington Magnum.....just for that type hunting...I really enjoyed the pictures........I don't think a lot of people understand how open it is out there, and how far you can shoot.

I remember driving a 1970 Dodge superbee 440 six pack between El Paso and Alamagardo NM........flat out, WFO.......road straight as an arrow, and smooth as a baby's butt.......and the road went on forever........Spent a lot of time in Southern New Mexico........Lincoln National forest......Red River areas......

If there was ever a place for the big Magnums, your in it!  Thanks for the memories!

NONYA, I am from Colorado and we also just counted one side. But since I moved to the east I had to learn to use the eastern count. I remember going to work and telling people I got a 4 point, I would show them pictures and they would say, that's an 8 point.  :)

Did I read you right?  Your dad shot a deer at 765 yards away?
