Bought the ruger Tonight
« on: January 10, 2006, 04:33:34 PM »
Guys,

After conidering all the comments and looking the rifle over very very closely tonight, I took it home with me.  It was a used rifle but I imagine that it is very slightly used.  I compared it to some new rugers on the shelf and this one his a much smoother action.  No bind at all.  No marks on stock, rifling was still crisp.  The gun was in really great shape.  Came with a scope but a junky tasco.

I just hope it is not a Ruger Lemon....

WIll post my results as soon as I scope and shoot.

How do I freefloat barrel?

Congrats Muz125 on the Ruger purchase. I think you'll be happy. Don't free float the barrel until you fire it to check the accuracy. Sometimes they don't need floating. But if it does , Coyote Hunter posted in your previous posting the tools you'll need. Good luck.

Congrats on your new toy!

My guess is it will be a good one.  Half of my firearms and most of my scopes were previously owned and not a lemon in the bunch.

Heck---even if it shot bad for the previous owner----I bet the problem could be traced back to the junky Trashco.

Yep.......Don't expect much until you get a proper sight........I'd loose the Trashco as soon as possible.

Muz125, Bet your going to be happy now.

Victorcharlie I traded for a sako 375 Weatherby that had a world class Tasco on it and i have fired 50 rounds through it and its right on where we started.

Don't want any one thinking I'am stumping for Tasco But I belive in giving credit where credit is due. If i can run 50 rounds through a 375 Wby and it holds togather it deserves a little credit. In spite of how it has done i will Grace my Baby with a nice Leupold
