Question: When to Buy a New Muzzleloader?
« on: January 09, 2006, 03:02:45 PM »
I want to buy a new muzzleloader and I didn't get interested until late December. Now everyone has low or no inventory and there are not any sales that I can find anywhere. Does anyone have a sale at the end of the hunting season or will I have to wait until next fall to find a good price? Are there any online outlets for a good buy on a gun at a fair price? Everyone talks about great prices on NEF Sidekicks, but I haven't seen anything out there. Thanks!

Question: When to Buy a New Muzzleloader?

Now is an excellent time to buy a muzzleloader. I heard some Gander Mountain Stores were having end of year sales on the Sidekicks for $99.99 blued, $169.99 Stainless. I never seem to run into those deals, but I guess some have. They are always sold out when I check.

I have a Huntsman and it is my favorite out of 7 muzzleloaders (3 Whites, 2 Knights, 1 T/C and the NEF), but if you shop around there are some outstanding deals on Knight Elites and Extremes out there and they can be had for $200-$250 right now.

What it really boils down to is, what are you looking to buy and what type of bullet do you want to shoot?

Good luck!

BUSTA:

Sent you a PM!

By the way, the $99 wood/blue sidekicks are not to be found at Gander Mountain.  Some stores are showing 1 in inventory but calls to the store revealed none to be found.  I don't know about the stainless though for $169.  The one I purchased was the only one in the store.  I can't say if there are others elsewhere but I have my doubts.

I want to clarify though that I purchased my SS Sidekick from a Michigan store.  When I looked at GM computer, only stores in the Great Lakes, NY and PA were showing the errant "1 in inventory."  I don't know if GM is a nationwide chain or not.  My store may have only had access to Midwest or NorthEast outlets and if so I can't say that those same prices would apply to all stores nationwide.
