m444 problem
« on: January 08, 2006, 03:57:54 PM »
So I took the flashlight, looked down the barrel.. and the alignment is off in my .44mag ultralite.  Does anyone have any experience with the warranty dept of taurus, and how they would respond to this?  I never did like big pains in the butt.

Most of what I have heard about having to send guns back for repairs has not been good, like the turn around takes a long time and sometimes the gun comes back the same as it was sent. Things may be better now though, maybe someone who has had warranty work done recently will chime in..

My brother and I each bought one last fall for a bow elk hunt in CO. Very light and easy to carry/pack. The gun does kick with full 44 mag loads. Both our pistols shot high and mine had 2 cylander notches that were milled to wide leaving alot of play in the gun. I sent it back to Taurus and got it back a month and a half later. They send a test target and apparently fixed the point of aim, but didn't do anything about the timing. Customer service lady said I could send it back if I wanted, but if the gun shot and functioned, they would not do anything about it. She wouldn't even look up my file or let me talk with anyone who knew anything. I was not too happy and will be getting through to someone who can deal with this soon. Overall it seems to be a nice gun, but this may just be the last Taurus I buy if they don't fix the issue.
