Lost hope for Remington....
« on: January 08, 2006, 09:15:01 AM »
  Recently I started looking for a replacement for my old 1968 Remington 700 ADL in 30-06.  I was very interested in the new Rem 700 XCR, but began to have doubts after reading about the new Remingtons and poor quality control.

I went to a local gun shop and compared the Tikka T3 laminate vs Remington XCR.  I was shocked!  As soon as I pulled the bolt on the Remington I saw a deep gouge/tool mark on the left lug on the bolt!! :x  The shop manager was even upset and said it would be shipped back!

After pulling the Tikka's bolt and feeling the smooth action I am almost sold.  Any input about these two guns would be appeciated.  Has anyone had problems with the laminate stock on Tikka in 30-06.  I understand the big boys .300 and .338's have had some stock cracking in this line.
