I'm looking for a synthetic stock for my 700 mountaon rifle. I called remington and they don't make one and didn't know of anyone that did. Anyone know of a place where I can get one for <$150?

If you're looking for one for a long action Mtn. Rifle I just happen to have a like new one made by Remington once upon a time for them. I got it when I had my original Mt. Rifle cuz the walnut stock was so purdy I hated to take it on in bad weather but ended up doing so any way. I think it was mounted but am not sure it ever went to the woods. PM me if you think you'd be interested and I'll round it up and we can talk.

I had one of those Gray...they only made em in 1993. I wish I still had mine...30/06 Stainless. :cry:

Hey Graybeard, sorry for being so long responding. My rifle is chambered for 260 rem. And though Cabela's carries long action stocks for them, I can't find a short action anywhere :cry: .

I'm not sure it was ever made in a short action version. I've never seen one or seen one advertised anywhere.

An empty 30-06 case won't even fit through the ejection slot. The magazine says "Short Action Non Magnum". Also the bolt doesn't have enough travel for an '06 even if the slot was long enough.

I would call it black. Some might say very dark gray.

Yes it will fit any long action Mtn. Rifle. If you have one of the detachable magazine guns tho you'll need the bottom metal from a BDL gun to make it work. If it's one of the original .280 Mtn. Rifles they had the BDL drop bottom magazine like the current LSS Mtn. Rifles do but the detachable mag guns require new bottom metal to make it work. I had it on my 270 original Mt. Rifle for a short time but never even fired it with the stock on it. Sold the gun (stick kicking myself for that and watching to find it again) before I even fired it and let the orignal stock go and kept this one.
