Ever had a bad shooter?

Have you ever had a Browning rifle that would not shoot MOA?  I have had no experience with them except my Stainless Stalker in 7m-08 and my buddy's Stainless Stalker in 280.  Both are excellent shooters.  Just wondered if this is typical or good luck.  I have shot groups at .250 and less out of mine with Accubonds and Tripleshocks.

The past year and a half has had me on a Browning Abolt binge six in total
30-06 Medallion with BOSS
223 micro hunter
7mm-08 microhunter
270 win stainless stalker
270 WSM hunter
25 WSSM hunter
 
All MOA or better so if it is luck I'm real lucky

I have a Hunter .243 that shot a 5 shot .75" with the first handload I shot through it. I have 4 different varmint loads that will do .5" or better for 3 shots, and 2 deer loads that will do .75" for 3 shots! All this from a box stock gun (with the Timney trigger kit.0
I also have a Stainless Stalker .30-06. This gun took slightly more work, but I am now shooting 150 gr. Nosler Accubonds in the .7" to .8" range.
I am very satisfied with my Brownings.

mine will shot 1/4 inch gruops at 100 yards with the hornady light mag sp,and i have only put one box through it..i never heard a browning not shoot.

I have a bunch of Abolts.  All are shooters.  However, I bought used an ABOLT s/s in 25-06 and I could not get it to shoot.  It had the habit of shifting point of impact from day to day.  Man I tried everything.  Anyway I don't know what the guy had done to it before, as in neglect, but the bore looked fine.  I really think it was an inletting problem.  I traded it for an ABOLT s/s in 308 that really shoots.  I have another 25-06 I haven't shot yet but I'm going to scope up on it and see if it is just that caliber or if it was just that one particular gun.....I think it was that one particular gun.  But we'll see.  I've got a 25wssm that will shoot 3/8" all day long.

i got a .243 hunter in january. i played with a couple handloads and finally settled on 33.5 grains of varget with a 95 grain nosler ballistic silvertip and it shoots a 5-shot group at about a half inch. can't complain.

i really like the rifle. i am beginning to think that with this and my Browning Gold Hunter 20 gauge i might never have to take the rest of my guns out of the safe.

I have 5 Abolts all shoot right at 1moa but no better I had a 243 wssm that was a piece of crap I sold it off after trying everything on it.
I have kind of switched to rem's and CZ's

I own and have owned numerous Brownings----the only model not worthy of the Browning name and is nothing short of worthless junk is the Buckmark pistol---I've owned 2---stupid me for buying the second after the experience with the first one.

They really need to drop this abomination from the line as it is nothing more than stain to the Browning name.

Yes I have had several browning rifles that would not shoot MOA groups. But only one that was a bad shooter. You can kill a lot of game with a 1&1/2" shooter at 100yds. Most of my browning levers are only 1&1/2" shooters but I have killed a lot of game with them.

I did have one Safari grade Browning bolt gun that I could not get to shoot anything. When I slugged the bore it was .379 and thats too big to shoot jackeded bullets in a 375H&H. Since I had no need for a 375H&H to shoot cast bullets that I could size to fit the bore, I sold it to someone that did. Regards, Byron

One.  Buckmark rifle with the heavy bull barrel, not the lightweight alloy one.  I tried eight different kinds of ammo.  The best group was an inch at 25yds and the worst was about FOUR inches at 25 yds with CCI mini-mags.  Also, everytime you pulled the trigger you got powder blow-back on the left side of your face including your left eye.  Very good "feeling" rifle with some serious design flaws.

Have a new a-bolt 30-06 with boss and can't get better than 2 1/2 in. groups. Changing the boss does nothing with group size. At a loss on what to do. Thinking of selling  it.

I have had one that would not shoot a 243 wssm. I got rid of it. I have a 300 win stainlees stalker that I fought for 2 years and was about to give up on. When I called Browning they told me that my 300 with a BOSS is only a 2" gun. I have kind of a bad taste for Brownings but after help form this board I now shoot 1/2"-1" depending on how I do my part. I doubt I will ever get another Boss. It cost me way to much to find a load for It adds about 100 variables to the equation. once I finally did find the spot I do like how it shoots.

Yes I had a poor shooter.  It was a 308 lever gun I bought new about 2 years ago.  in addition to being innaccurate the lever would often not chamber correctly and would fail to fire.  The lever had to be slammed with great force to get it to chamber correctly.  However, I own an A bolt chambered to 25-06 that is the most consistently accurate gun that I have ever owned.   Go figure.  I asked the smitty at the Gander Mtn where I bought it to check it out and he said it was fijne.  I got rid of it and it was my last gun through Ganders.
