Sling on an old Huntsman?

I have an H&R Huntsman and would like to add sling swivels.  The swivel in the stock is not the problem it’s the one in the forearm.  The gun has a plastic barrel band and the ramrod is under the barrel.  I don’t believe there is room to add a screw in swivel due to the ramrod.  Is there an after market barrel band (metal) with a swivel on it?

two fixes i have used...one is two cut the threads off a swivel eye and solder the eye to the forearm screw....hope you understood that??the second is to put a swivel band <<<like on a 22 barrel>>and put on the ramrod holder...i like this but it take a long sling and a little getting used to...but the barrel dont stand a foot over my head either....jb

Thanks for the input.  
I like the idea of coming off the ramrod holder.  It will lower the gun  but that will keep it out of low hanging brush / branches.  Have you ever seen  a metal barrel band?

Check and see if they still make the shotgun sling that slips on the wrist and barrel of the gun. I have one I found in the woods after shotgun season when I was bowhunting. Does a fine job on My 20ga double.

They make swivel attachments for just your application.  They have a threaded metal insert that goes in the forarm from the inside, I have on on a CVA and it works perfect and allows you to attach the sling anyplace you like on the forarm.  Larry

i silver soldered a eye to the ramrod holder it works good but it like to be carred barrel down better......now i cut 6 in. off my huntsman and shortend the ramrod holder so it nows a little better...havent got to shoot yet to dry to many fires in my neck of woods....jb

I had the same problem years ago with a Marlin M 60 .22 semi-auto. The magazine tube rides below the bbl. as the ramrod does on the Huntsman.

I drilled a swivel screw size hole in the fore arm near the end, and inlet into the magazine channel slightly. Used the right size ''speed nut'', one of those spring steel plates often used in auto upholstery and trim, shortened the swivel screw to proper length, rounded the corners off the speednut and screwed the two together.

The rounded out speed nut turnseasily with the swivel screw within the small inlet unimpeded by the sharp corners it originally had, is plenty strong for carry purposes and has never caused any difficulty in twenty odd years since fitted.

That may be the ticket.  There is about 5/16 thickness of wood just behind the barrel band and a speed nut would fit nicely there.  I have different style at work so I check them out.  Thanks for the tip.
