Price of Interarms Mauser Luger 30cal???
« on: December 24, 2005, 09:56:41 AM »
Hi All,

My dealer has an interarms-Mauser luger in 30call that is in new condition.  It has a white cardboard box, extra magazine and "all the -papers".  It appears to have a 6" barrel and has the word Original in script and what appears to be some sort of eagle emblem on the top forward receiver ring (looks to be a repro of the american eagle stamping as on those lugers made for US mil trials in the early 1900'sa).

Anyway, he wants $1,400.00 for it.

What do you think?

Thanks, Merry CHRISTmas, Happy Holidays!!

Doug

Doug - regrettably that is probably what they are going for.  Truely, that is too expensive, even for a new production Luger Pistol.  If you are looking for a P-08 Luger or a commercial version in either 30 Luger (7.65 Luger) or 9mm, take in a few guns shows and you might find something a bit more to your liking and your wallet.  Some of the handguns in this category you see at shows are under $1,000 and they are usually priced fairly unless you find a real collector.

As for the Luger pistol itself, even an older one that is in good condition will be a good shooter.  Persoanlly I like the 30 Luger - it is a good caliber, albeit a bit obsolete.  It is a good reloading caliber for that reason.  Bullets, brass and loading data are available.

I have a friend with a P-35 Hi Power who purchased a Bar-Sto barrel in 7.65 Luger to swap around in his Hi Power and he has a hoot with it.  We load it to normal pressures but it is a flat shooting caliber that he uses to pot bunny wabbits and other critters on his front lawn.  Years ago we used to use the 30 Luger for silhouette shoots for non-magnum pistol calibers and it did just fine.

I don't know if it is the pistol you want or the caliber you are interested in but either way I would suggest shopping around a few gun shows to see what's out there.  You can also check the Shotgun News and other periodicals to see what's available out there.  HTH.  Mikey.

Note: Post-WWII Lugers have been manufactured by Mauser Werke in Oberndorf, W. Germany during the 1970s, and by both Stoeger Industries and Mitchell Arms (see separate listing under Mitchell Arms) in recent years. Earlier Mauser importation was by Precision Imports, Inc. located in San Antonio, TX and Interarms of Alexandria, VA (and so marked on these guns).
Prices for 100% condition Lugers assume NIB status. If without box and accessories, deduct 25%.
