Dirty barrel, missed targets
« on: December 23, 2005, 10:02:10 AM »
I was at the range yesterday shooting my Huntsman from sandbags.  The first shot just barely missed the bull at 100 yards.  The second was about 8" high and the third missed the paper.  I cleaned the barrel and it was right back next to the bull.

I would think that just one and two shots should not make that much difference.  I was using 245 gr. Powerbelt hollow points over two 50 gr. Pyrodex pellets.

:D I have never had that problem. You may want to try another bullet style and load and see if it continues. I can at least get five shots before cleaning and most of time the shots are grouped. Check your scope and mounts if you are using a scope.

It's the first time I had that problem myself.  Right now I don't want to make any radical changes, but muzzleloader goes out Friday and I'll try a different scope.  The first shot is always right on so I'll also experiment with different loads.
