I finally got my 625. It is a 625-8 JM, 4 barrel, narrow wood grips, and removable front sight. It is very tight. I have had it a couple of weeks now and put a couple of hundred rounds through it. It seems to put the first round from a clean barrel about 2 from the center of the subsequent group. Subsequent groups are very tight. The barrel and action are smoothing out with use. I have swapped the grips for Pachmayr compact grips and replaced the front sight with a slightly higher ramp. That extends the sight radius about .6. I am loading for it with jacketed bullets, the Hornady 200 SWC and 230 FP, to help smooth out the barrel. It is shooting very well, with moon clips and .45 ACP and without clips using .45 AR brass. It works without clips with ACP brass, but short cases can cause misfires.
I have a 25-2 that I have had for 30 years. The 25-2 has .456 chamber throats, while the new 625-8 has .452 throats. The old one shoots very well, so go figure. The 25-2 has a 5 barrel, the 625-8 has a 4 barrel. The 25-2 is smoother, but the 625 is catching up fast. I now have to wait until January to get back to the range (closed for deer season), so when I get back I will work with it some more.
