Weaver Choke Tube Question
« on: December 19, 2005, 04:17:23 AM »
I bought a beautiful old 20 ga. Ithaca Model 37 (circa 1977) at a gun show this past weekend. It has the old Weaver Choke tubes that screw on the end of the barrel. One is marked "AP" and the other one is marked "LR" instead of the standard "Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder," etc. Can anyone tell me what "AP" and "LR" stand for and what they equivocate to in terms of choke settings?

Weaver Choke Tube Question

I was incorrect...upon reexamination the choke tubes are LYMAN, not Weaver.  Sorry for the confusion.  I have been told that AP means All-Purpose and is the same as Modified, while LR is Long Range and stands for Full.  My apologies for the confusion.
