I just saw an old post asking about the 300 mag as a whitetail cartridge. We've got such a huge selection of cartridges anymore that selection isn't really the question. It's more like, "what do you want to shoot?".
Not to leave out you 22 fans but, what cartridge from the 243 win to the 600 nitro doesn't have at least a couple different loads that will handle deer very well?
The payment for your choice is gun weight and recoil and, if you don't reload, can't imagine who doesn't, available ammo.
