That is the first Tikka that I have seen blow up.  Didn't that person check with Beretta to confirm the serial numbers?

I have never had any problems with any of my Tikkas and Sakos, but this not not good publicity for them, either here or abroad.

This is really disappointing. . . hopefully the shooter did not get hurt.  Even though I love Sako and Tikka rifles I hope they are severly penalized, punished and prosecuted, not necessarily in that order.

Zachary-

Makes you think twice about the person who told you tikka wasn't invovled with the recal.  Everyone needs to make sure they call the recall hotline with any stainless tikka/sako rifle.  I wouldn't be surprised if sako/tikka doesn't wind up in court over all of this.  I think in the long run it would have been cheaper for them to just do the right thing and go public about thier recall.

Lawdog and Bear,

I agree with everything that you guys said.

The person that told me that was a Beretta person on the phone.  Really ticks me off to find out that Tikkas were also involved.

Maybe that person meant that no Tikkas in the US were involved?  I hate to make excuses for anyone, and don't think that I am.  I may love my Tikkas and Sakos like Lawdog, but we both agree that wrong is wrong.

I am going to call Beretta again just to confirm that none of my rifles are affected.

I just bought a new Tikka T3 Lite Stainless about three weeks ago - where can I find the phone # you guys are talking about to see if got a dangerous rifle.  I still have not fired it because I haven't gotten around to it in the cold weather yet.

I forgot how I originally got the number.  I think that there was an old post that posted the number.

I would think that if we go to the Beretta website, that we should find that number.

it looks to me like for that barrel to have split the full length there would have had to be something stuck in the muzzle. there is know picture of the muzzle.
