tikka t3 300 wsm and tight bolt lift with factory ammo???
« on: December 18, 2005, 10:42:49 AM »
hi all
got to go ring out my tikka t3 in 300 wsm today
with federal fusion 165 gr factory ammo i had tight bolt lift and after cooling off  i cannot get the fired case to go in my rifle without the bolt
being hard to close

i have had a hell of a time reloading for this rifle
it gives me the same problem with a reload  i have been thru 50
150 ct silvertips and no matter what i do or how far i push the shoulder back the round has tight bolt close so i avoid shooting them

the fusion shoots great in my 300 wsm and i also tried some 180 powershock ammo with the same results tight bolt lift
i didnt know factory ammo could produce high pressure like that but i guess i do now
anyone have the same expierience as me with the t3 or the 300 wsm??
just wondering if there might be a cure for it
any ideas??
thanks guys

I have the same gun in SS but I haven't had a chance to fire it yet.

I did have a similar problem with my Sako 75 SS.  Specifically, my Hornady ammo cycled great, but the Federal ammo caused the bolt to turn tight.  I have no explanation for this, although some people tell me that it happens to be that particular batch of ammo.  I don't know for sure.  And that's a shame, because I really like Federal Ammo.

BTW, the gun is in 7mm-08 and the load was the 140 Nosler Partition.
