.358 Winchester Brass? Where do you get it?
« on: December 18, 2005, 09:43:59 AM »
I've read that winshester stopped making .358 Win brass and none is listed on midway.  I know you can neck .308 up, but is there any other source of .358 Brass?  I'm contemplating either a .358 or a .350 Rem.   I like the idea of the headstamps of the cartridges matching the chambering on the barrel.

I guess one could use mil surp brass that has no caliber headstamp, but I prefer commercial brass for sporting purposes.

Igm270,
A friend locked into the .358 Win gets ammo, not brass, from Cabela's and WalMart sales, uses the rounds and reloads the cases. I know that on occasion there are cases available from MidSouth, Midway or Graf&Sons, as he has purchased them from these folks when I have purchased some other components. He has told me that it is almost as inexpensive to get the loaded rounds during the Fall Hunting sales and then use them for practice. I also believe that he has told me there is no factory 250 grain loads available, the weight he reloads. He inherited his Win Model 88 in .358 and would not buy one in today's market, as if you want ammo for it on a trip, you may be SOL.

If you can't get it anyplace else try Ebay.  I get about 60% of the brass I buy off Ebay and at prices that please the pocket book.  Lawdog
