Remingtons - Special Edition engraved 7MM - info?
« on: December 18, 2005, 05:07:02 AM »
The local gunshop has a few Remington 700s that have a really nice stock, the usual ebony tip, but they have some nice engraving, hooded front sight post and are only chambered in 7MM Rem Mag.  Seems to me  they were a special run for the Shot Show or something, but I can't find the information again.  Anybody have the scoop on these rifles?  Are they something to be had at the asking price of $498?

I'm not familiar with that particular SE rifle.  You run of the mill wood stocked BDL will cost you about that much, or more, so it may be a good price nonetheless.

One of my friends and I snatched up two of those rifles. Seemed a pretty danged good deal. The rifle is a Remington model 700 BDL deluxe custom engraved edition with scroll work on the receiver and magazine floor plate, including a Ram head (floor plate). Blued, adjustable ramp iron sights, hooded front, etc. The local vendor only had it in 7mm Rem Mag. I'm not sure if that was all that was available, or if that was the only chambering for this run. Anyway, brand new at $498, you could not beat it. The trade-in weapons sitting on the sales floor were dearer by $100-200. People were pretty proud of their used wepaons.

Anyway, just curiosity if anyone knows anything about this gun. Special run? Remington just deciding to quit making 700 BDLs?
