I have a remington ADL with a bead plast finish ,do they rust easy and what kind of care will help it from rusting?
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

you can keep it well-oiled. but other than that...

i used rustoleum paint on my SPS model 700 barrel. i took it out of the stock and covered the things i didn't want sprayed and put a thin coat of the paint on and let it dry....then reapply if you need another coat.

then heat it....either leave it in a hot car as Graybeard did with his, or use a hairdryer like i did.

it will last quite some time and won't chip or rub off easily.

anytime you want or it needs it...spray it again.

works great and looks pretty good too if you choose the gray finish that's as close to stainless as you can get.

Bead blasting should result in a more rust resistant finish.  Think of it in these terms......If you pean the surface of steel with a hammer, you'll close the pores at the surface and make it less likely to rust, correct?  A powder coating will give you the best finish however.  The smoother the finish, the greater ability to resist rust formation.

the bead blasting makes a billion little pores where junk can get in it. That's tough to get clean...

that's why i did what i did.

mjbgalt,
Oh I disagree strongly!!  As I stated earlier: bead blasting is done to close the pores of the barrel surface. GRIT blasting which involves the use of sharp edged aluminum oxide [as in sandpaper] which does create an etched surface w/ thousands of open pits that is used as a pre cursor for painted surfaces........

As you can see, these are two similar operations, but with totally different purposes.
