GDAY FRIENDS ...I FOUND AND HAVE BEEN READING POSTS ON THIS FORUM FOR A FEW MONTHS ....READ THROUGH TO PAGE 8 UP BY NOW ..SO..... MANY MORE TO GO....IM THE TYPE THAT LOVES TO WORK ON AND LEARN NEW PROJECTS ,SPECIALLY IF IT INVOLVES AMERICAN HISTORY ....SO I PURCHASED A 1/3 SCALE HOWITZER BARREL ..GOLF BALL BORE SIZE... IM A GOOD WOODWORKER GOING TO BUILD MY OWN CARRIAGE...BEEN LOOKING THROUGH STICKEYS /RETAILERS LISTED BUT HAVNT FOUND ANY THAT STOCK 1/3 SCALE ELEVATOR SCREWS OR CARRIAGE HARDWARE .. ANY SUGGESTIONS WHERE I CAN FIND THEM ?? ... THANX ... DAVEY

It certainly isn't authentic but a common "c-clamp" can easily be fashioned into an elevation screw.

Look in Enco catalog for material for elevating screws. Comes in 3' lengths of various pitches and diameters. Also has matching nuts.

Be sure to post pictures and remember the cardinal rule, place a powder can (mty or full, we don't care) next to the subject item for scale, so we can easily determine the size. THANX FOR THE FRIENDLY WELCOME !! ...............JOINED A FIREARM FORUM ONCE AND ALL I GOT WAS CONDESENDING INSULTS WHEN I ASKED QUESTIONS................SO THANKYOU ALL ........I SUPPOSE IF I CANT FIND ELEVATION SCREW OR CARRIAGE HARDWARE FROM SOMEONE OR RETAILER RELATED TO THIS FORUM ......DO YOU SAGEST MY LOCAL BLACKSMITH OR A SMALL MACHINE SHOP ..MAYBE ?? I LIVE IN SMALL TOWN RURAL U.S.A. AND I THINK THE LOCAL BLACKSMITH WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN MACHINE SHOP ...??? I HAVNT A CLUE , IVE NEVER WORKED WITH METEL ONLY LOTS OF WOOOOOD ......

Look around, you might find just what you need in the most unlikely of places.

I built my own elevator using an antique brass faucet handle. I have never seen another exactly like it.

The people that sold me the handle said that it came from a very old house and was at least 100 and possibly as much as 150 years old.

You are right when you said this is a great place...... This is a find bunch of guys. Im new too and feel right at home. the smaller CANNONS are great too they all make a BIG NOISE.!!!. I have found some gun parts at www.cannon-mania.com/c-parts big and little they look interesting at the least.
So from a new guy hello and welcome.
