Use the search feature
« on: December 12, 2005, 02:42:51 AM »
Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a search feature here at Graybeard. To save you time, use the search feature to help find answers that my have already been discussed. If you can not find the information, then post a new question. It will help with speeding up the information you need as well as not to have to revisit something that has already been discussed in detail.

For example, I was wanting information and opinions on Burris handgun scopes. Entered the word "burris", narrowed it to the T/C Handgun Forum, presto!

Thank you Encore3006 for the suggestion.  :D

Only problem for me is the search feature doesn't work.  :?  Don't know why but I have tried several times to do a search and I get an error. Anyone else have this problem?

The search feature is working correctly. Depends on what you search for and how. Used correctly it does return results.

Sorry Graybeard at 8:25 Am est the search engine wasn't working.  Looking up information on Chronographs and it said "page couldn't be displayed" at least 4 different attempts on two different search wordings.  I've recently been doing searchs on topics before asking general questions.

Search will not work for me anymore.  Is it down since the work last week?

The "News Box" at the top right hand side of the page says the the search feature has been diabled.
That means that Matt is working on it as he gets the time and it will be back up as soon as it is fixed.

It's not your fault, the search feature has been turned off, it won't work for anyone until Matt fixes it. :(

Graybeard, or RedHawk ???
When I click on the  Icon for search it comes up for either Google search for Web or GBO, I put in for example .325 wsm with the GBO choice selected and it brings up all the forum hits...then I click on one of those and it takes me directly to the home page , never see the forum discussion or have a chance to get the advanced search feature...whats up ?? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Patrick,

Ok, Tim.  I clicked on the small down facing page triangle that was at the top left of the page and the Google search page came up.  Great , now I typed in .325 WSM in the search page and with GBO selected not the WEB button.  It came up with all the 189 topics on the .325 WSM .  NOW the problem is NONE of the firts line links work ..they ALL take me back to the Graybeard home page  the one with alll the forums listed.  the listed addresses in the subsequent lines below the topics is the exact same address as the primary one in the top that will allow you to click on it...you can copy paste the link into the web browser but it takes you to the same place as the clickable link on the top line ...the Home page again...sa far as I can gleen the search will not allow you to actually SEE/go to / read any of the 189 topics it comes up with.

Tim try it yourself and see if you can actually read the threads that it comes up with.

Patrick.

Patrick, I have no doubt that you are having problems with the google, search, Matt said that what you have experienced will happen, it does for me most of the time too, that's why I said it doesn't work very well, if at all. :(

I have tried on several occasions to use the google search feature. Every time I have used it I get about 6 zillion search results, none of which are even close to what I was looking for. I think it's eaiser to smash my thumb with a 12oz hammer on my fireplace. ;D

We're hoping to have the search feature working properly by the end of this week. That's NOT a promise as Matt not me is doing the work and I can't promise his delivery dates but he is working actively on it. BUT it's about a 24 hour job, meaning that many actual hours of his time will be required to make it happen. He's doing it as he can.
