I'm going to get a Encore 22-250 factory barrel 26" and was wondering what grain bullet seems to shoot better in them? Do you guys have a preferance?
Thanks
Bim

Mine prefers the 55gr Sierra Blitz King with 34grs of IMR 4895. 3/8" 100meter groups on a good day.  KN

I can't say that the gun prefers them but mine shoots some pretty small groups with the 40 gr Ballistic Tip. Sean

Stay at or below 55 grain weight bullets

Most 22-250 factory barrels (including T/C) have 1 in 12 to 1 in 14 inch twist barrels.  This pretty much limits you no more than 55 grain bullet weights.

If you want to shoot something heavier, consider getting a faster twist, say 1 in 9 inch.  This will stabilize up to about 75 grain bullets, depending on bullet make and shape.  Or, 1 in 8 twist for the long range 80 grain competition bullets.

As for me, I prefer the 52 grain Berger bullets with moly coatings for my .22 caliber needs.

Mine will shoot .5" with Nosler 40 or 50 BT.
