I have been looking at the Czs and between the two for me it would be CZ all the way. Good shooting  :D

CZ. The little 527 is perfect for the smaller rounds.

CZ all the way... The more I use them the more impressed I am with them...

I would have to recommend the CZ.  This being said, I do not have a browning, but for what I paid for my cz I believe it is unbeatable.  1/2" or smaller groups are very common at 100 yards.

Neither as I don't care for a .223" bore on my .22 Hornets.  I load with .224" bullets and don't like to take any chances.  I also don't care for a detachable magazine that sticks below the line of the action.  Lawdog

Nofun1

Back in the fiftys we had to load the hornets with 223 Dia Bullets and with not much success, Now there are some manufacturers makeing hornet barrels in 224 which in my opinion makes a better deal. If you have a bunch of rifles in 224dia it just makes sense to have them wearing 224 barrels. I have had great luck with my ruger 77 22 hornet scoped with a Leupold 3X9 scope, getting half to three quarters inch groups at 100 yds consistently. Great little rig for calling critters and dispatching them. Heres hoping you much success in your calling...........Joe.......... :D

I vote for the 527 CZ. I load nothing but 224 diameter bullets and have found nothing but excellant accuracy. the Hornet is usually a finicky feeder but the CZ will shot 3/4-1 inch groups consistantly, with factory loads. I've been working with a new powder, for me at least, called 'Lil-Gun'. It really hums'em fown range. The loading project is halted just now as the deer season is near over, just a 9 day antlerless season left, and that means predator season is here! I want a bobcat really bad and the Hornet is what I plan to use. I've 2 527's, a Hornet and a 223, They are both fullstock carbines.. Their not supposed to shot that good!  I really don't care for the magazine system but mine have given absolutly no problems. The Brownings are beautiful little rifles but I had 1 that gave me fits trying to make it shoot. Finally worked OK but the CZ's are both better.

Of the two you mention, I would  pick the CZ. I have a .22 LR model 452 that puts shots in one small hole. But, it required a trigger job. I installed an aftermarket adjustable sear to get a good trigger pull. However, CZ wouldn't be my first choice. Try googling "Savage Model 40" and click on the gunblast.com field test. Very interesting. The rifle tested did not have the accu-trigger which the new ones have. Out of the box and with factory ammo, it shot very well. With the varmint accu-trigger, it should do even better.

My cz 527 American has a .224" bore and it shoots well under 1" at 100 yards...........................................the Ruger Hornets are Junk as far as accuracy goes..............shame such a nice looking and rugged rifle and yet such a poor shooter.

My dealer has sold 6 of them and none of those six could go better than 2" at 100 yards and one would barely hold that at 50 yards even after trigger jobs, bedding etc. and numerous loads.

That's funny.  I have three Ruger .22 Hornets(two No. 1b's and a 77/22 VHZ) and all three will shoot under MOA all day.  Only thing I did to them was change the trigger.  Lawdog

I own a CZ in .17HMR and I am very happy with it.  Great fit and finish, and excellent price.

I have both the Hornet, now  a K-Hornet and the Fireball.  IN all reality, the Fireball is what the Hornet should have been.  THat said , I love my Hornet but the thin case is its major shortcoming.  Use Rem 6 1/2 primers and Lil Gun powder and the Hornet will be happy.  WIth the Fireball, use same primers and Lil Gun, Rel 7 or AA1680. Keep the bullet weight on the light side of 50 and you will be good to go.  Also you can use Blue Dot with reduced loads with either round if the noise signature needs to be lowered and accuracy will still stay good.
Just my 2 cents

Back when CZ was called Brno it made its N. American reputation largely because of their .22 Hornet rifle.  It's one of the best made, both then and now.  Best wishes.
