A economic alternative to a lift kit is a spring over conversion, where the axles ride under the springs instead of on top. This will get you 4Â’ of lift or so.
Just remember to correct you drive shaft angles and check your brake hose length, also the jeep will not “handle” as before. You will also probably want/need new spring shackle bushings.
If you opt for larger wheels/tires keep in mind that this will further lower your effective gear ratio. If you intend to seriously off road, the first thing to consider is a decent cage, the CJÂ’s short wheel base, narrow track, and relative high center of gravity can exacerbate some situations to a critical point
