6.0 ammo?
« on: March 07, 2003, 06:37:23 AM »
Hi everyone, wondering if you could help me out. A buddy of mine was just given a big box of various types of ammo, most of which was old 303. He came across a unmarked box with ammo inside which had only the markings  "6.0" on the head.  anyone know what this might be?  I think it might be some sort of old service ammo.

thanks for the help

For you to receive a good answer to your question, we are going to need some more info.  Do you know the caliber?  If not, what does the round look like (is it rimmed? Is it FMJ? Pointed or round nose? Is the case brass or something else?)

The 6.0 could be a date or it could be an arsenal code.  More info please.

only had a quick glance at it so i'll see what i can remember.
it was FMJ and it was pointed. I believe it had brass cases. cant remember if it was rimmed or not.  He tried it in his 303 but it would not fit.  he then tried it in his 30-06 but it was too small for the chamber.  it looks very similar to the 303 cartridge
