I have two Enfields that I hunt with frequently.I really like the action and the cartridge. So far this year two of my .303's have accounted for one deer and two wild dogs.

I usually take my No4 Mk1 out a couple of times during the year.  She groups to 3/4" at 100m and hasn't missed a coyote yet.  They are great rifles and the caliber is very effective on most North American game.  Mikey.

I have two spoterized #4's.  One has the original barrel length, the other has been cut to 22" and re-crowned.  The 22' has a vintage Weaver K-4 that I picked up at a pawn shop.  The other has a Tasco Golden Antler 3X9X40.  I also have a few original #4's and a #5.

The sporters shoot 1-2 inch groups at 100yds with Rem 180's and PMP 180's.  The WWII versions shoot well enough to hit a deer, but I've never seriously tried to zero them in.  Just wanted to see if they would still hold a group.  No problem there.

My dad has owned only one deer rifle his entire life.  It is a #3 that he bought in the early '60's for less than $10.00.  He had the stock cut back and Williams sights installed.  He still uses that gun today.

I often look for #4's that have been sporterized and have had good luck finding them inexspensive.  The last one I picked-up was a numbers matching #4 with the original sights but with a cut down stock.  I replaced the wood with a matching set I had and restored it.  I picked it up for $85.00 about two year's ago at a shop in New Castle, Delaware.

Great guns to shoot. Ample deer power and low recoil.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that NEF will build a Handi Rifle in .303.

I have a No1 Mk111 Ishy.  That one gets out once in a while.
My Ishy 2A gets out all the time.  I can put together some really good handloads in .308 because the bullet selection is better.
 I just bought a #4 Mk1.  Haven't shot that one yet.

bought a lee enfield a couple years back for 100$ canadian. Always wanted one so when a buddy of mine said he was selling his i jumped on it.  Only shot it a few times, cause i let my father use it once and he fell right in love with it.  Now it is all he carries. Guess you can say he claimed it.  that's ok though, i've got other rifles to choose from.  that only gives me an excuse to buy another.  Compared to the actions on some of the savages i've bought lately, the enfield is super smooth.
oh, and since i'm from canada, i think everyone should have a .303
