Stevens 200 at Wally World?
« on: November 23, 2005, 04:41:10 AM »
Does any one know if Wally World is or will carry the Stevens 200?  At present their web page does not show it.  I am interested in one but local gun shope are asking about $350 and this seems a bit high as I am seeing it on line for about $100 less.  Local gun stores and Wally World are about the only choices where I live as we are so far out in the woods  that they have to pipe the sunlight in.  Nearest Wal Mart is 40 miles away.

I have a stevens 200 in 25.06 I purchased at Walmart here in Joplin, Missouri.  You just have to ask them to call their distributor.  I believe their distributor is Lipsy's.  The cost on mine was $268 plus tax.  They ordered it in 5 days.

Thank you Deerman12.  That answered my question.  Now all I have to do is find another reason to visit Wal Mart.  Wink, wink, nuge, nuge, if you know what I mean.

I was getting ready to post the same question, when I saw this post. I did find them at Dick's Sporting Goods for $269

If you ask the manager or manager's assistant in the Sporting Goods dept. they can check and see for you. I did and was told that it could be ordered for a cost fo $268.xx + tax. You have to put 50% down to special order a gun here tho.

The Walmarts Sporting Goods Dept usually has a book that has just about every gun imaginable.  Ask the Clerk to see the 'Special Order' book.  The rifles they have on display are only a small part of what they can order for you out of that book.  It usually takes anywhere from 3 to 7 business days to get it in for you.

For my part, I like going local with my purchases.   Having a place besides Walmarts and Dicks or whatever is good for everyone.  If more and more Mom-n-Pop places are put out by the big discounters, it's easier to shut the whole system down.  Whether you are able to buy a rifle shouldn't depend on Shareholders.

I just ordered a Stevens 200 from my local store. Wal-mart stated they would honor the $199 Bass Pro price. However, when the store inquired about ordering one (receiving it from the warehouse), there weren't any to be had...I wanted the short action so they may still have the long action in stock. I then left Wal-Mart and went to my local guy. Yeah, I'm paying $260 for one rather than $199 but I don't want to see my local guy put out of business as he goes above and beyond to get me what I want.

Walmart's supplier is Sports South, right now they only have the long action in .270, .30-06, 7mmMag and .300 Win mag in stock...You can search their inventory at their web site...Prices listed aren't Walmart's price, so don't let it scare ya!!

I ordered a .270 at Walmart, then cancelled the order when Bass Pro Shop had them for $199.   I mounted the Elite scope, camo'ed the stock, and set the trigger already.    Ready for sighting in so I can use it for does and pigs in January.
I was surprised at the light weight compared to my 700's.
