can anyone tell me if the sights from a 97 and 83 are the same?

The front sights are the same but the rear sights are different.

The difference in the rear sights is in the wind adjustment, elevation adjustments are the same.

The 97 has a screw atop the sight that tightens down to keep the rear blade in place. To adjust the windage you loosen this screw and slide the rear blade to where it needs to be then you retighten the screw.

The 83 rear sight has this screw atop for extra support but also has a fine thread wind adjustment screw on the side of the blade for precise setting. Loosen the holding screw on top then move the rear blade, via fine thread wind adjustment screw, where it needs to be then tighten the screw on top.
