 Howdy: I have a 527 Lux (iron sights and original humpback stock with 23.6 inch barrel) that I bought one of the CZ 527 American Fancy American Walnut after-market stocks for from CZ. I took the two magazines I have apart, one had the bent spring pointed down, to the bottom of the magazine, the other had the bent part pointed up, toward the top of the magazine. Both seemed to work fairly well, but I have to be honest that the position where the bend goes toward the bottom of the magazine seemed a tiny bit more smooth cycling. I had some problems with the rifle cycling the first and second rounds of the five-round magazines until I discovered the problem and fixed it. Heck, I smoothed the lips of the magazine, tried bending the spring, tried everything until I learned the trick. Anyway, to answer your question, it appears the bend should be pointed toward the ground or the bottom of the magazine. That little rifle now is a solid half-inch rifle at 100 yards with the correct ammunition combination for it. They are sweet, real sweet. Anyway, hope that helps. Tom Purdom
