.308 BAR mags

Just beginning my research but considering a BAR in .308. Question is....what are the options regarding mags/capacity? All experienced BAR info is appreciated. :-)

Well unfortunately, the BAR is stuck with 4,or less(depending on the
chambering), in the mag capacity, because the BAR mag isn't really a
detachable mag...So to speak.

It is a detachable mag, but the mag is mounted to a hinged floor plate.
So unlatch the floor plate, and then decouple the box magazine
from the floor plate.  One could not add a larger capacity mag, unless
some creative gunsmithing were done to remove the floor plate,
and craft a mag latch mechanism, and a different style magazine.

My .308 Win chambered BAR Stalker has 1 in the pipe, and 4 in
the mag, capacity, and that is all it will ever be.  I wondered about
why this was done, and the only thing I can think of is some lawyer
was working overtime to never let this rifle become something
along the lines of an assault rifle.  Very nice hunting rifle, that
it will never hold more than 5 rounds, but the way this thing
shoots, if I don't get it down in 5 rounds, I wouldn't likely do
it in 10 or 20 rounds either.  If I want something with larger capacity,
I guess an AR-10, or one of the other many battle rifles, would
have to be my choice.

Arms-Tech in Phoenix made an accurized 300 WM BAR for the military. http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/3000/3020.htm It saw duty during Bosnia. It had the option of using a 10 rd magazine.

I checked out the site, and the "military" version of the BAR.
The rifle pictured there has the standard floor plate, and
the 4 round magazine.  I would like to see more details about
the 10 round option, but I am sure that some re-engineering
of the magazine is necessary.  I guess if one felt that strongly
about increased magazine capacity, Arms-Tech is an option.
I am thinking that buying two identical BARs, load them both
with 5 rounds, and carry both of them would still be a cheaper
option :-D  Heck let's just re-engineer the BAR for a belt feed
option!  Or just find a old M-60, and sporterize it!

In all seriousness, I believe the BAR is a fine hunting rifle, with
the current capacities.  If I wanted more capacity, I would look
at a AR-10, or one of the larger chamberings for a AR-15 uppers.
For my purposes, the AR-15, in .223 Rem, or an AK-47, in a
sport version, with 7.62x39mm, or 7.62 NATO, would fill my
needs for high capacity rifles.  I know the large capacity magazines,
in my AR-15's do not get used nearly as much as my plain old
20 round GI mags.  They do look cool, but hauling a rifle around,
with that much ammo hanging under it, for hopefully what will be
a 1 shot kill, just doesn't make much sense to me.
