I have a model 13 that I was shooting when the forsing cone split. This is the second time this happened. The First time I sent it back to S&W they put a new barrel on. That was fine until resently it split again. So I gave up and bought me a Ruger.

Sounds like a case of pressures that are WAY too high with bullets that are Way too soft. Even Freedom Arms revolvers do the same under those conditions. Fired with loads within the pressure limits of the rounds as set up by SAMMI it shouldn't happen ever.

The bullets were only loaded to go 1250 with N09 powder. Thats no reason for that to happen. Is it? But it did! Well I don't shoot that revolv er any more.

I'll vote with Graybeard on this one. Smiths are noted for being a bit on the fragile side, but two forcing cones in short order tells me there is something SERIOUSLY wrong. Perhaps a Ruger is a better gun for you, after all.
