I've been eyeballing the new 460XVR, but I have a couple of questions before I take the jump.
What is the actual bullet diameter of the .460?
Does the gun manage recoil well as they say? Compared to a FA 454?
What is the actual bullet diameter of the 460 caliber?
I see that the gun ships with a shoulder sling? Have you used it? How functional is it or is it cumbersome?
What did you pay for yours?
SingleFan, I started with the standard 8 3/8 inch barreled 460 Mag. It cost me $995.00. I shot it and it was a tack driver, then the Performance Center released the 10 5/8 in one and I traded in my 8 3/8 460 for it. I just had to give $150 plus my standard 460 for it. It was listed at $1169.00, I did not get to shot it a lot and went to the range yesterday to shoot it, and they had the newer 7 1.2 inch barreled PC model 460 in. It is the black one with stainless. So I talked to the owner and we worked out another deal. I got what I had into the 10.5 inch PC towards the trade and paid another $100 difference. Well, at that time, he told me the second 7.5 in PC he had was sequentially numbered to the one I was buying offered me a deal on the second one. He had them listed at $1269, but I got the second one for $1159.00. So I have now shot the 8 3/8, 10 5/8 PC and now the 7 .5 inch. I like the 7.5 inch the best. It is more balanced than the other two. Also the 7.5 PC model with black and stainless, only 500 of these guns are made. Kind of gave me an incentive to get them both.
As far as the recoil, I find the 460 with the 460 rounds to have less recoil than my FA in 454 Casull. The compensator works great in my opinion. With the 454 Casull rounds in the 460, the gun is a kitten.
The bullet diameter is .452, the same as the 454 Casull. As far as the shoulder strap, I find it very useful, I can also use my shoulder rig with the 7 .5 inch barrel. All my prices are listed above. I am so glad I got the 460 Mag. Even better I now have 2 of them to go along with my two 500 Mags.
So as far as having hands on experience with the 460 Mags, I think I can speak from experience with over 300 rounds fired in my first 460 mag and 100 rounds in my second PC model and yesterday I shot 45 round in my new 7.5 PC model, that the 460 Mags is a great gun. I don't think you will be disappointed. JMHO.

Good luck and let us know what you do.
