.228-243?
« on: March 04, 2003, 05:26:00 PM »
The other day I was visiting with my gun smith. We were taking about a new project. I asked if he had a 22-243 reamer. Well he looked around for a while and didn't. But he did come up with a Clymer finish reamer for .228-243 any one know anything about this Wildcat?

The case looks like it would have a little more capacity then a 228 Ackley. You will have to buy bullets from custom makers. At that high of a velocity you will need a bonded bullet to hunt deer. Hornady makes a .228" bullet but it's designed for 22 Savage velocity, it would make a good varmint bullet. I don't know of any barrel maker that makes a .228" bore barrel. You may be able to get Cliff LaBounty to rebore a 17 caliber barrel to .228"  8)
