Wal-mart Winchester-70 for 250 $ (clearance)
« on: November 05, 2005, 08:22:19 AM »
Hey guys I just wanted to let everyone know, that winchester model 70 (calibers 30-06, 270, 300 wsm, and one more) and 24" is on clearance.

This rifle comes with a 3-9X40 simmons scope, and synthetic stock, if anyone is planning on getting a nice rifle as a gift, well, here it is.  I have heard some really nice things about the winchester 70 so i think this is a heck of a deal.

Darn it, i wish i coulda gotten this instead of the mossberg 100 atr for 220
  (I bought it as a gift for my father for this CHRISTmas)

Is this sale Nationwide or limited to one store where you live?
And I believe that all gun sales are final at Walmart, they are kinda picky about that.

well, I know the walmart store in Sterling Heights, Michigan zipcode = 48310 is selling them, they have more than just a few on clerance....
thier phone number is (586) 323-2394

If you guys want you can call them and...ask if they can ship em to a store near ur house.... My friend just went and bought one 2 hrs ago, we went to the range and man, it shoots like a dream, very accurate and for a synthetic stock and a simmons 3-9X40, 250$ is not bad at all (its actually a "good" looking synthetic gun, handles well)

Walmart marks down stuff based on age alone sometimes.  There was a bunch of guns from the California  warehouses (we quit selling guns in CA) that got force shipped to some stores here.  They all came in at clearance prices because they had sat for so long in the warehouses after Walmart got busted in CA for sloppy 4473's awhile ago.

Walmart takes markdowns also when new models come out (the Nikon scopes on clearance recently).

Here in Southeast Oklahoma, we didn't get any of the Winchester rifles but we did markdown Winchester pump 20 gauge to $150 and the wooden stock Weatherby Vanguard (Deluxe?) to $399 from $488.  Once that Vanguard inches down to $300, I think that I will bite.

All gun and ammo sales are final, company policy, the store manager only can override the return.  But then the gun has to go to the manufacturer for evaluation before being resold.  Then you have lost shipping, repair costs (in theory, but I am sure they just play the Walmart game), and then the 10% markdown taken for a used gun.

One of our local Wally-Worlds marked down a Howaby Vanguard in 300 WBY Magnumb from $388 to $299.99.  It was a display model that had a 1/4" scratch on the barrel.  It is now in my living room.  Just mounted a Mueller 3.5x10x44 on it.  According to the Asst Flunky, the gun had been around for awhile and it was a one time markdown.

I work swing.  Noticed it at 2:00am Friday night/Saturday morning.  It was on layaway by 8:00am.

I think I'll have to troll Wally-World more often.

I got one for $225 out the door!  Just happened to be standing there when the department manager marked it down.  Very sweet for a Black Shadow in 270 Winchester.  Now I have a project for 2006.  Just need some more dies and brass.

     Yeap! So did I. Was a freak happening, as the next day I went to buy it, and had to pull hard for the price I was quoted. I got it, MUCH to my happiness. Wasn't even looking for a 270, wanted a longer barrel 30-06 actually. Oh-well, I can't pass up a good deal. Almost preped and ready to take her out. If the 270 doesn't shoot, The action alone is well worth the small investment. You guys keep your eyes open...I feel that there are more deals like this out there after the "season" ends

Every time I go into a Wal-Mart I take a look for guns on sale. I have bought a couple of guns that were heavily discounted, you just have to be catch them when it happens.

Thanks for the tip.  I saw this post last night and I had to pick up a few things at the local Walmart today.  I was surprised when I found out they had one of the Model 70s in 30-06 with the Simmons 8-Point 3-9x40 scope.  I asked them if it was "on clearance" and they said "yes, but we have to scan the box to check the price".  It was not out in the case, so the guy had to go to the back room and get it.  He brings it out, shows it to me, scans the box and says "$150".  I almost fell over, I rarely get that lucky, I calmly said "I'll take it, do you have more than one?"...of course I couldn't be that lucky.

I asked the guy who helped me "How would anybody know that you guys had this discounted rifle stashed away in the back room?"  His reply "I don't know".  I'm not picking on him, he was a real nice kid, he just didn't know.  I'm guessing that nobody there does.

I'd love to know what other great deals they have sitting back there!  I was lucky enough to get a couple of Beretta 390s for $299 last year!

One of the Walmarts close to me has Synthetic .30-06 Remington 1400's on clearance for $299.   I don't really need a Semi, but I may just pick one up.
