Hello everyone, I just purchased a encore with a 24" barrel in 308 win. I sighted the gun in last week with remington 150gr corelocks. 1" groups at 100yards. This week I went back to the range and sighted in using the new Federal Fusion 165 gr. I could not get this ammo to group. One shot would hit dead center the next 10" high the next 8" to the left. I check scope and alll mounting hard wear everything is tight. Has anyone had this problem.

Stick with the 150's...........or try a different brand of 165's

I haven't really gotten anything satisfying out of 165+ gr bullets.... but it wasn't as bad as you're reporting.

Thanks... I went back to the range today with the 150gr corelocks and at 100 yards I was shooting 1" groups. Guess I'm hunting with the 150s

It seems that every rifle has a favorite ammo - you may need to check out other mfg. if you want to change the weight of the bullet - my TC is in the 223 and 17HMR. The 223 love Black Hills factory reloads.

I shoot all handloads. My favorite load for my Encore 30-06, was actually developed for my NEF 30-06. It is a Sierria 165gr Boattail, in front of 49.5gr IMR 4064. I'm shooting a 3 1/4" group at 300 yards. My neighbor's 15 year old son used my Encore and that load, to shoot a nice Bull Caribou yesterday down on the Denali Highway. My rangefinder said it was 278 yards. One shot, caribou down.

The only .380 I own is a Parker Haile bolt gun. It's favorite load is also a 165gr bullet. For 15 years that was the only hunting rifle I owned, and the 165gr Sierria Boattail and the Nosler 165gr spitzor Partition served me well. I shot everything Whitetail, Mulies, Antalope, Moose, Caribou, Hogs, Cayotes, Black Bear, even Turkey, with that gun and load. So as you can see my favorite load for .30 cal is the 165gr bullet period.

Thanks for all the get info. My favorite bullet weight is also 165gr. My sons Ruger M77 .17 loves the TNT. We this Pa deer season will have to be the 150s as I do not have any more time to hit the range.

My Encore 30.06 loves the Federal Vital Shock 165 Sierra Gameking BTSP. 1" groups at 100 yards. a real sweet shooter.

I'd stick with the 150 grain bullets. They're all you'll ever need for deer.

I've had the same problem with getting 165's to shoot in my Handi. Groups have averaged over 2", but I've had little trouble getting <1.5" groups with 150gr bullets.

HEY GUYS IM NEW ON HERE AND PRETTY NEW TO THE ENCORE ASWELL, I HAVE THE 7MM REM MAG HEAVY WHAT ARE YOU GUYS SHOTTING THROUGH IT FOR BEST GROUPS ? I HUNT DEER ..
