Western Field Wards EJN757
« on: November 03, 2005, 09:44:31 AM »
My grandfather owns a Western Field Wards EJN757 30-06 that he bought many years ago from Montgomery Wards. His magazine clip for this rifle recently turned up missing and we're having a hard time finding one for it. I tried to look for the crossover reference to see who the manufacturer was but have had no luck. When doing a search on this particular model, no useful information is found. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Manuel,

For a start i would go to Lee's Gun Parts at http://www.leesgunparts.com/ or Tennessee Gun Parts at http://www.tngunparts.com/ and ask them.  If they don't have the clip maybe they might know who would.  Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.  Lawdog

If you belong to NRA, you can write them a letter asking for this information and they will reply. I've sent them some pretty tough questions and they've always come through with a good answer. Chances are the barreled action is of European manufacture. Sears sold rifles on Husquvarna and Mauser actions - very good rifles as a matter of fact.

Thanks for the help guys! I contacted TN Gun parts and they could not find a cross reference for it. I'm going to call lee's gun parts later on today to see if they can help me. I'm not a member or the NRA but had plans to become a member in the future. Maybe now is the time to become a member.

There really is a fairly narrow list of guns it could be. Monkey Ward didn't make guns, they bought from various makers just like Sears did in those days.

A good description and better yet a photo might help us help you by identifying it for you. With no description just the modeal number it's not easy to help you.

Most of them were made by Mossberg but Stevens, Savage and Marlin also made guns for them. I can find no reference to any .30-06 tho from them. Several .308s but no '06s.

All the EJN-xxx were manufactured for Wards by Colt.  Either a Mauser or FN action - need the pics to be certain.

How about posting the URLs here so we don't have to go searching thru the gallery for them.

Sure looks like a commercial Mauser action. Don't know about the clip, though.
