push feed to claw conversion bolt
« on: November 03, 2005, 04:50:12 AM »
I have a nice win. mod 70 that is push feed I would like to change the rifle to a mauser claw like the older (Pre64s) and newer classics.
Does anyone make a conversion bolt that will change it over?  I dont see why it cant be done.

Thanks TC

NO GO. The push feed reciever is not cut for such an extractor, and the barrel breech is different. The pre-64 has what is known as a "coned breech".

Actually, the conversion is fairly simple.

1.  Sell current rifle.
2.  Buy new rifle.

I converted my scopeless Savage .22-250 with a shot out barrel into a like-new Ruger .257 Roberts with a Leupold M8 4x scope for only $150 - best conversion I ever made.
